I was born and raised on a small island off the coast of Savannah, Georgia. After graduating high school, I lived in Athens for nearly a decade as I attended both college and graduate school at the University of Georgia. I majored in English and French Literature and loved every minute of my education, and I am grateful to this day for the mind-expanding and life-affirming nature of what I learned and was exposed to. As a writer, I seek to dig out and bring to light moments of our daily lives that are worthy of taking notice—whether it’s a headline, an artist profile, a blog post, a Facebook caption, or a humorous take on internet trends.
Another huge passion in life has always been music, and in college I was first a disc jockey and later programming director at WUOG 90.5. In Atlanta, I spent four years on the board of directors of Girls Rock Camp Atlanta, a week-long summer camp where girls pick up guitars and drumsticks and form a band.
Some of my interests:
-Culinary history. Lately, I’m on a spice kick, and I don’t really enjoy new stuff unless it’s scaldingly spicy.
-Trying to read all of the Hugo Award-winning science fiction novels.
-Trivia. I have a weird knack for remembering wars, presidents, ʼ80’s songs, and other bits of useless information.
-All things French. So much so that I had to enact a moratorium on pictures of the Eiffel Tower for birthdays/Christmas/just because from my friends and family.
-Star Wars. Seriously, my knowledge of Star Wars has been known to scare 13-year-old boy nerds.
-My delightfully skittish, green-eyed beauty of a gray cat, Goose.
-Collecting guitars.
-Growing corn!
-Meme theory.
-All things TikTok. (Seriously, it’s so creative and funny, y’all.)
Day 0 – Getting There A few months before this trip, I was looking around at schooner trips around the U.S. I had taken some friends on a sunset cruise in St. Augustine during a girl’s trip weekend and I learned that there were tons of schooners you…
For months, the internet has been murmuring about the simultaneous release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Two diametrically opposed films — sugar vs substance, pink vs black and white, divine feminine energy vs stark, intellectual masculinity — both dropping on the same fateful Friday in late July. By mid-June, the…
